Dean Borghi Fine Art & Rudolf Budja Gallery Present: Nobuyoshi Araki's Erotos

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dean Borghi Fine Art & Rudolf Budja Gallery Present: Erotos – A Solo Exhibition by Nobuyoshi Araki

New York, NY – Dean Borghi Fine Art, in collaboration with Rudolf Budja Gallery, is pleased to present Erotos, a solo exhibition by renowned Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. Opening on May 15th, this exhibition will showcase a selection of Araki’s provocative and deeply personal photographic works, exploring the intersection of love, desire, memory, and mortality.

Nobuyoshi Araki (b. 1940) is widely recognized as one of the most influential photographers of his generation, with a prolific career spanning more than five decades. Since the early 1970s, Araki has produced over 500 photobooks and countless photographs, pushing the boundaries of the medium and challenging conventional notions of beauty, sexuality, and human experience. His work is characterized by its raw, unfiltered nature, often exploring controversial subjects and offering an unflinching view into the intimate moments of life.

In Erotos, Araki delves into the complex and often contradictory nature of human emotions, capturing moments of vulnerability and desire with both tenderness and intensity. The exhibition reflects Araki’s signature approach to photography—spontaneous, unplanned, and often charged with the urgency of the present moment. Through his lens, the artist invites viewers to witness the fleeting, ephemeral quality of life, exploring themes of sensuality, intimacy, and the inevitable passage of time.

Araki’s work is deeply rooted in his personal experiences, particularly his relationship with love, loss, and the ever-changing landscape of Tokyo. His photographs are more than mere representations; they are intimate confessions, reflections on the fragility of the human condition, and meditations on the profound connection between life and death.

This exhibition marks a significant moment in Araki’s ongoing exploration of eroticism and memory, bringing together a series of works that speak to the enduring relevance of his artistic vision. Erotos invites the viewer to engage with the profound complexity of human emotions and the delicate balance between beauty and decay.

The exhibition will be on view at Dean Borghi Fine Art, 529 W 20th Street, beginning on May 15th. Please join us for the opening reception at 6:00 PM.
